Balsall Heath in Bloom

Balsall Heath has become so much cleaner and greener that residents decided to enter it in the Britian in Bloom competition. It came third, second, then  first in the Midland’s Urban section, then runner up in the National Urban category.

The efforts of the Green Team are supplemented now by residents who buy plants, hanging baskets and bird houses from the Green Team’s Tree Nursery base. The catalystic effect of the team is stunning and has caused other neighbourhoods to begin to follow suit.

 The nick name for the Green Team is ‘two men and a van’. Many now believe that every neighbourhood should have ‘two men and a van’.
